Balloon Hoax? Media stunt......you decide!

I'm sure everyone is well aware of the balloon hoax theories that are traveling around and I can't help but believe them. If you somehow are not familiar with the story follow the link.

I caught the beginning of the story, and followed it to the end. The whole time I kept thinking how I would feel if it were my child in that balloon and the terror that the parents must be going through. I prayed that the boy was not in the balloon, and then when it came down safely, I prayed that he was. For the little while that they thought he might have fallen out my heart was in my throat. Then my complete joy that he was found safe and sound. I went through so many emotions in the few hours that this unfolded.

Then the interviews started and little by little it looked more and more like it wasn't an accident but staged as a publicity stunt. My kids are my entire world and I can't imagine putting them through this for media attention. Just going on the idea that it was staged, that meant that the child was stuck in a box in the attic, alone, while you played the victim. Then to make your children lie to cover your ass. It was just too much. I can't fathom how someone could use their children in this way. Then to think of all the resources that were used trying to save the little boy!

I like to think that this is just a really bad coincidence, but I was always taught if it walks like a duck, talks like a duck.......yeah I know you know the rest.

What are your thoughts? Is this a hoax, and if it is, should they face charges?

A Little Bit of This, A Little Bit of That..........

A fellow blogger and friend lost her husband recently, and in doing so, it brought a bit of soul searching on my part. We all have our own lives, our own struggles and our own goals and ambitions. They are uniquely ours and it shapes who we are, how we act and how we live. When I got married almost 15 years ago, my life centered on my husband and our dreams. To own our own home, and to enjoy being "us" instead of individuals. We suffered trials and tribulations along the way but we managed quite nicely.

After a while those dreams became different. Kids entered the picture and our lives turned upside down, and I wouldn't have it any other way. Our world revolves around them and shaping them to be the best they can be.

I think when our passions rise so high in the midst of politics it's because of why we hold those views and opinions. Right now my family doesn't have health insurance, so naturally, that is very high on my list of concerns. My husband has been getting days off and his employment is shaky at best. So of course, the economy is uppermost in my mind. Our day to day lives shape our "politics" so it is par for the course that everyone's views will be different.
What we all need to remember is that there is a person behind the screen and I have never been more aware of that with Shaw's personal health concerns and Z losing her dearest husband. Politics may be what we feel but it by no means who we are.
When we fail to see others as nothing more than "anonymous" people and posters, we will never rise above the "politics" that we get so caught up in.

I've been struggling lately with a few health concerns myself and will be going for testing relatively soon. My son is having difficulty in adjusting to his tourettes in school, and that is a big concern. In the big scheme of things, politics is important, but not everything.

I have my priorities lined up and right now, this is not high on the list. I will be around to visit but please excuse my absence in posting for a little while.

Nobel Peace Prize, Say What?

I might as well put my 2 cents about the Nobel Peace Prize mayhem. Did Obama deserve it? No. As I've been visiting blogs it's been brought to my attention that he was awarded it because his vision. Do I still think he deserves it? No. This is the text of the announcement regarding Obama's "Nobel Peace Prize" If they were talking about JUST his vision, there may have been an excusable (in some eyes, not mine) reason that he received this. The red is mine.

"The Norwegian Nobel Committee has decided that the Nobel Peace Prize for 2009 is to be awarded to President Barack Obama for his extraordinary efforts to strengthen international diplomacy and cooperation between peoples. The Committee has attached special importance to Obama's vision of and work for a world without nuclear weapons.

"Obama has as president created a new climate in international politics. Multilateral diplomacy has regained a central position, with emphasis on the role that the United Nations and other international institutions can play. Dialogue and negotiations are preferred as instruments for resolving even the most difficult international conflicts. The vision of a world free from nuclear arms has powerfully stimulated disarmament and arms control negotiations. Thanks to Obama's initiative, the USA is now playing a more constructive role in meeting the great climatic challenges the world is confronting. Democracy and human rights are to be strengthened.

"Only very rarely has a person to the same extent as Obama captured the world's attention and given its people hope for a better future. His diplomacy is founded in the concept that those who are to lead the world must do so on the basis of values and attitudes that are shared by the majority of the world's population.

"For 108 years, the Norwegian Nobel Committee has sought to stimulate precisely that international policy and those attitudes for which Obama is now the world's leading spokesman. The Committee endorses Obama's appeal that "Now is the time for all of us to take our share of responsibility for a global response to global challenges."

Remember the red is what was said about his 11 days of office when he was nominated by February 1st!
